Element: Determine job requirements
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Comply with work health and safety (WHS) requirements at all times
  • Identify job requirements from specifications
       
Element: Prepare to cut gemstone assemblies
  • Identify and obtain consumables required for cutting and polishing gemstone assemblies
  • Select tools and equipment to be used
  • Dop pre-form on appropriate dop stick using wax or adhesive
       
Element: Cut and polish gemstone assemblies
  • Grind to relevant shape using job requirements or pattern design
  • Polish top and sides of gemstone assemblies
  • Transfer the stone and re-dop
  • Grind and polish backing to job requirements
  • Remove stone from dop and clean with appropriate agents

Assessment Tasks
